LIFE.... AS IT COMES (CHAPTER 9)

“WHATTTTTTT??????”

“Tam relax! It’s no big deal! Seriously!”

“But you guys kissed! That is sooooo exciting!”

“Exciting? Tam you have lost your mind!”

“Shell! Can’t you see it? Wow! You guys together. This is just too good!”

“Tam, Tam control! It wasn’t like that. We kissed coz we had to! No romantic feelings involved. We didn’t mean it. Think of it as a business thing!”

“You? And kissing as a business thing? That is so not your words darling. What happened dear? You want to share anything?” Tam asked in a gentle voice.

She knew Sheila too well. Sheila wasn’t speaking her mind. It was as if she was reading off from a script. A bad one too!

“Oh no! Nothing of that sort! Hey how did it go Danny? How is he?” Sheila asked praying for a change of topic. She didn’t want to bask in the spotlight.

“Yeah Danny’s cool. He’s great, actually. Was asking about you guys. So I told him to come over for lunch tomorrow. It’s Saturday and you guys will be home.”

“Yeah sure. No probs. So had fun yesterday?”

“Great fun! We went to that new amusement park, you know, it was so good! Oh! And he told me all about the girl he is dating now, and I lamented to him that am not getting any action.”

“Hahahahahah! Really? So what did he say?”

“Ah! You know he teased me like hell till I felt like strangling him in the middle of the road.”

“Awwww! Poor you!” laughed Sheila.

“I know. Hey, I gotta go and change. Ok? Will see you later. Bye!”

Tam rushed out of Sheila’s room and went to the bathroom shared by the two girls. She had to submit in her column today and couldn’t afford to be late.

God, she thought, as opened the tap, waiting for the hot water to flow, Sheila has fallen in love with Ryan!

Sheila looked out of the door and still she did not find any sign of Ryan. It was the first time that she had a complete girl-talk with Tam that too without Ryan eavesdropping.

She missed him.

“What do you mean by you don’t know? You kissed her and you don’t know? What did you think, huh? That she is like all the sluts that you date?”

“Mind your language, Kunal, am waning you. And it’s not that I did it purposely you fool!”

“Ryan, there were two sets of lips involved. Can’t put the blame on her. You came down on her. And you know something? I don’t believe you! I don’t believe that there was some compulsion in the kiss. I think you did it deliberately. You did it knowingly. You just couldn’t get hold of the fact that you live with two great girls and they are not interested in you in a romantic way! Fuck you man! They were bruising your ego! And you don’t even have the guts to do anything to Tam. So you decided to take advantage of poor Shell!”

“Oh yeah? So, now she is ‘poor Shell’ to you huh?”

“Don’t change the direction of the topic, Ryan! I see her as my sister!”

“You say that for every bloody girl you have fucked with! What is it Kunal? Huh? You jealous that I got in some action with one of the safest girl, whereas you don’t even have the guts to think of doing it, huh?”

“Shut up you bastard!”

“Just get out of my room then!”

“ I bloody well will!”

With that Kunal stormed out of Ryan’s room banging the door behind him.
